2016 Wraps Up With a Successful PCSD Stuff the Bus Campaign
The holiday season is for giving and members of the Parma community came together to help lead a successful campaign for the inaugural PCSD Stuff the Bus event.
The event, which consisted of monetary donations as well as donations of food, youth clothing, and toys, provided 300 families the opportunity to have a great holiday season.
“It was overwhelming because we didn’t realize how many donations we had on the bus,” Angelo Caputo, Supervisor of Transportation said. “I think it really shows the community definitely enjoys giving back and they definitely responded.”
Monetarily, nearly $600 was raised. The Valley Forge Wrestling Team held a fundraiser for the campaign, and managed to raise $500 to help families during the holidays.
The idea for Stuff the Bus stemmed from members of the transportation department who wanted to find a way to give back to the community. The Department of Transportation worked with the Parma Area Family Collaborative.
Donations from Stuff the Bus were given to the Collaborative to be distributed to those in need.
With the success of the first PCSD Stuff the Bus, Caputo says that he wants to have the event next year.
