This fall our community asked “Do you hear us?” and our answer is “Yes, we do”. In an effort to keep the lines of communication open, we provide the following update on the financial position of the Parma City School District:
On December 1st, the Ohio Department of Education notified the District of their acceptance of the District’s written proposal to eliminate deficits in FY2017 and FY2018.
“The detailed measures which you have included in your written proposal, when combined with the revenue from the renewal levy, satisfactorily address the deficits forecasted for FY2017, FY2018 and substantially reduce the deficit in FY2019…”
“Because a deficit is currently not forecasted until FY2019, the district has an opportunity to discuss future plans and determine which actions will best address those future deficits. With the submission of the May 2017 forecast we will again request a written proposal to address any remaining deficits. Please take advantage of this time in between forecasts to continue to pursue additional revenue enhancements or expenditure reductions necessary to bring line 6.010 to zero and thereby eliminate forecasted deficit spending trends.”
As ODE suggests, the Parma City School District Board of Education and Administration are taking steps now to address the projected deficits.
Due to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections’ timeline, the Parma City School District must decide by the middle of January, if the question of an additional tax levy should be placed before the Electors of the District.
Please assist us by taking a few moments to answer the following questions by December 31, 2016…
